Congrats to our winner Shirley J!
We are a family of hand-me down devotees. And I am PROUD to admit it. But I’ll be honest with you there are some clothes that don’t stand the test of time; i.e multiple laundries and a rambunctious 12 year’s old’s active lifestyle. And then there is Oshkosh B’Gosh — All I can say is this.. about 50 percent of my son’s wardrobe is hand-me-downs from and after each wash- the clothing looks almost brand-spankin new.
I also know that each spring we do a massive clean-up of his wardrobe and pass down his clothes to his younger cousins and when I’m looking to refurbish his closet we always check out OshKosh B’Gosh.
When it comes to my boy- at 12 years old he is very much about choosing his own clothes and sporting his style on his terms- which is fine with me and so I let him peruse Oshkosh B’Gosh for the duds he wants because I know their clothing is all about outfitting kids in stylish clothing that is super comfortable and works for their active lifestyle. During the springtime we are always out and about with family and friends for holidays and parties and my boy likes to come dressed to impress but he also wants to be able to play in the sunshine and enjoy a game of football and basketball too!
I don’t know about your son- but if my boy sees a ball, a bat or a hoop outside- ALL BETS ARE OFF. It doesn’t matter if he is wearing a TUXEDO lined in 24 karat gold or his brand spanking new Oshkosh spring duds- my boy is ready to play! So what’s a mom who wants to let her son boast his fashionable style in his new Oshkosh B’Gosh spring wear supposed to do? Scold him and tell him he can’t play ball until he changes his clothes? Or make him sit like a good little soldier with his hands folded in his lap until we leave our spring party and go home? Also what message does that send to our kids- that you can’t wear cute clothes and have fun? If I send him that message am I setting him up for a life of only wanting to sport sweat pants and dirty t-shirts? Well this mom has some tips to help you keep your rambunctious boys ( and girls) happy and playful in their Spring Oshkosh B’Gosh best and you from feeling like you need to wrap your kid in bubble wrap to keep his clothes from looking like they’ve been through a muddy playground ringer! And I also have a $50 GIFT card giveaway!
#1 Before they rush to get to the ball or that hoop remind them of the cardinal rule of playing in their spring best. “NO DIVING, Sliding into home or tackle football ALLOWED. When you go to catch a football or a baseball tell them THERE IS NO DIVING ALLOWED. So they are free to catch and throw but if they need to dive for that ball- they will just have to play it on one hop. ( in layman’s terms they will need to let that ball bounce before they catch it.) Why do you need to institute the no-diving rule? That will keep grass stains and rips to a minimum.
#2 No playing while eating. First of all this will eliminate the chance that they will spill that orange juice on their shirt as they are gulping it down while trying to catch a ball and will keep the chocolate ice cream stains to a minimum. Another benefit- not only will you get them to keep the food off their clothes but if you lay down the ” cake and ice cream can only be eaten at the table” law- you might just get them to sit for five minutes and talk to each other and you. That’s right you might be able to steal a few precious moments of quality bonding and one on one face-time with your sweet boy.
#3 Mud puddles on the basketball court should be avoided at all costs. If you see something say something- as in if you see a mud puddle call your mom over so she can clean it up! Do not, I repeat, do not bounce the ball directly in it or get into a splash fight!
#4 And when all else fails moms do not despair- Oshkosh B’Gosh clothes can be thrown into the washing machine and will come out sparkling clean- and looking brand new ( of course don’t share this information with you kid lest they won’t heed rules 1-3).
So to say that I am a fan of this clothing brand is an understatement– I love how OshKosh always has age-appropriate and comfortable
clothes from family events to epic birthday parties! And if you are ready to go shopping I’ve got an AWESOME coupon for you COUPON CODE: Online code: OKBG3270. Retail code: 036602 (25% off $40+ purchase) and I’m also sweetening the deal with a $50 Giftcard giveaway!
